So Much to Do … So Little Time …

For the 2013 Russian Delegation, this was a day to catch up on several activities.

8:30 a.m. 330 Armstrong Hall to learn about Early Childhood Family Education / parenting education
9:45 a.m. Walk to The Children’s House for tour at 10:00 am.
11:30 a.m. Walk to Carkoski Commons for lunch — maybe with Dr. Margaret Preska
1:00 p.m. Walk to 113 Memorial Library for KSP 401 SmartBoard presentations in Dr. Teri Wallace’s class
2:00 p.m. 330 Armstrong Hall for discussion of bullying and panel presentation by LGBT students
3:30 p.m. Discussion of the experiences in Minnesota and planning for the future of university partnerships

First, we visited The Children’s House at MSU.

Then, we had lunch at Carkoski Commons and Dr. Margaret Preska joined us (with Svetlana Amende as translator).

In the afternoon, we discussed their experiences while they were in the USA.

And later, we observed a class taught by Dr. Teri Wallace. Special Education 410 (IEP Writing / Professional Practice). Students made presentations that used SmartBoards to give a lesson to their peers in the class.

We were interviewed by Katie Brunner for the COE CSUP Partnership magazine. Katie took pictures of the delegation near ‘Waves,’a red steel sculpture that was designed by Arnoldus Grüter and fabricated at Jones Metal Products in Mankato.

In the artist’s words, “Waves” symbolizes in static form the dynamic action of the ocean and a university. The sculpture was built in honor of Jerry W. Berger, a Mankato State graduate student who was killed in a 1969 industrial accident.
