Peer Coaching Observation (POGIL)

After completing a POGIL workshop in MSU’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, I made a few changes to the course, including additions and alterations to assignments and procedures. Each of these changes related to my overall goal of developing a course that is intentionally designed to provide an intentional approach to teaching human relations. The Teaching Portfolio approach has provided a structure for this continued inquiry and subsequent refinement of the curricula.

Revision 1: Use POGIL principles to organize students into teams for working in class and outside of class.

Revision 2: Weekly homework and quiz based on readings from the texts

Revision 3: During service learning field experience students post observations and reflections on discussion boards on D2L and incorporate them into their final reflective papers.

I invited a peer to observe my teaching. (Here are her herenotes.)
