Global Citizen Award! 2012, International Center, Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN.

November 16, 2012 (Mankato, MN): Eight Minnesota State University, Mankato faculty members were honored as “Global Citizens” in a reception and Global Citizen Award ceremony from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 in the Centennial Student Union’s Heritage Room.

The award recognized faculty and staff who made a major contribution to globalization efforts at the University, and this year’s honorees were William Anderson (Social Work); Robin Wingo (Social Work); Cyrus Azarbod (Computer and Information Sciences); Evan Bibbee (World Language & Cultures); Chris Black-Hughes (Social Work): Elizabeth Sandell (Educational Studies: Elementary & Early Childhood); Kristen Cvancara (Communication Studies) and Christopher Stevens (Philosophy).

This was Minnesota State Mankato’s sixth annual Global Citizen Award ceremony, a regular event during the celebration of Diversity & International Education Week. The Global Citizen awards were presented by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs and the Kearney International Center. According to Greg Wilkins’ nominating letter, he award was because of my efforts to establish a successful partnership with Northeastern State University in Magadan, Russia. I promoted, advocated, and built the foundation upon which these two universities have been able to come together in global partnership through education.
