Graduation Requirements

Undergraduate Graduation Requirements (P. 4)  (need to include more text)

Writing Intensive Requirement (Bulletin P. 9) Writing Intensive Requirement Students who begin in the 2012-13 academic year and beyond must follow the Writing Intensive Graduation Requirement (previously the Goal 1C general education requirement). Currently, students satisfy Writing Intensive by taking 2 courses designated as writing intensive. Please Note:

  1. Many courses are offered with both writing intensive (W) and non-writing intensive sections. Remind students to check E-services to make sure they are taking a section WITH a W (if that is their intention).
  2. Students graduating under a bulletin prior to2012-2013 they can meet the old or the new requirement. Students moving to a newer bulletin can use a course that satisfied the previous writing intensive requirements at the time when they took it to satisfy the writing intensive course requirement under the new bulletin.

Diverse Cultures Requirement (Bulletin P. 7) Students need to meet the Diverse Cultures Graduation Requirement. Currently, students satisfy this requirement by taking 1 Purple and 1 Gold course, OR 2 Purple courses.

  1. Purple courses are content-based, and are meant to prepare students with course content and the analytical and reflective skills to better understand diversity in the United States, and other societies across the world.
  2. Gold courses are learning opportunities to experience diversity with reflection supervised by a faculty member, to asking them in recognizing and responding to conditions of marginalized populations.

Students must take courses from at least two disciplines to satisfy Diverse Cultures Requirements and are encouraged to complete the Purple course requirement prior to completion of the Gold course requirement. NOTE: Requirement may be different for AA Degree seeking students OR students who transferred to the university.

Students are encouraged to submit a Graduation Application apply for ONE YEAR in advance
