Dr. Bailey’s Applied Forensics

Welcome to my law enforcement and forensic resources home page at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Although retired, I continue to conduct research in the area of applied forensic science. Some of my research interests include: craniofacial superimposition, infrared imaging, tool mark analysis on bone, and ballistics. I am available to consult on specific forensic cases with law enforcement agencies, organizations and individuals. The type of cases may be recent, cold cases or historical investigations.

Applied forensic science techniques used in criminal investigations have made a significant impact in the media. This increased emphasis on applied forensic science in the media provides the audience with some forensic concepts and techniques used to solve crimes. However, it is important to understand that the techniques used in the media are not always realistic. To learn about the real aspects of applied forensic science, consider enrolling in some applied forensic science classes. These classes will prepare students with a more factual framework for evaluating physical evidence.
