My goals in teaching are to provide students with a better understanding of how geographers address problems in the natural sciences, expose students to the tools we use, and help them to relate that knowledge to their daily lives. To accomplish this, I incorporate high-impact teaching practices that familiarize students with equipment and techniques commonly used in physical geography research, provide them with hands-on experience, and challenge them to apply classroom knowledge to solve real-world problems. I believe that for students to understand the tools and techniques researchers use, it is important to get experience in a field setting.
